Legacies of Hamilton County

Class of 2010

What is Legacies of Hamilton County?

The Legacies series of books were designed to recognize people and places in Hamilton County.  We see them as living history books.  The first book in the series recognized 83 women who own businesses in Hamilton County, describing their business, their philosophies of business and their philosophies as women.  They are very exciting and interesting women.  The second book honors high school leaders from the class of 2009, this is the most recent book.  We were so amazed at the maturity of these students that we decided to make the class leader series a yearly project.  Therefore, each year we will honor the senior class leaders.

What does the book look like?

Copies of the first two Legacy books have recently been donated to the school and public libraries.  It would be an honor to have you check those out.  We are very proud of the production and quality of the books and feel it will be very exciting in 10 years or more to see where the students that were recognized in the books will be; CEO's, politics, actors, doctors, scientists.  It will be exciting to look at this history book and review their leadership philosophies from their youth.

Who can nominate a student?

Nominations are accepted from school officials, city officials and previous nominees.

Will the student know who nominated them?

All nominations will be kept confidential.

Who should be nominated?

We are looking for students who understand and show the qualities of a good leader.  This nomination is not based on a GPA, but a chance to acknowledge students who could become the future leaders of our community.

Is there a charge or expectation to the student?

No, there is no charge.  Through sponsors the students will receive a complimentary copy of the Legacy book that will feature their story and portraits that reflect their high school activities.  They will also receive a certificate at a recognition ceremony that will be held during their senior year.  The students do not pay anything for this recognition.

How are the student leaders recognized?

The students will be included in the Legacies of Hamilton County book, portrait recognition will be on display throughout the county, a copy of the book will be donated to all of the high school and public libraries in Hamilton County, they will be invited to a recognition ceremony where they will receive a complimentary copy of the book and a certificate of recognition.  Press releases will also be sent out, we can't be sure which papers will recognize the story.
